Qualifications are important. Self-esteem is life changing
Eastward House School, Cardiff
The Curriculum
Everything we do and all the activities, opportunities and experiences that our pupils undertake, in total, is what we consider our curriculum.

At Eastward House School we recognise that many of the children we teach have had profound negative experiences in previous education settings which impact their ability to access learning.
Therefore, whilst at the heart of our curriculum is academic progress, our first priority is always to develop the emotional and social development and wellbeing of our pupils. We understand that only when we have established a safe foundation for our pupils can successful learning begin.

Eastward House School will endeavour to ensure that each pupil’s education has continuity and progression which enables them to progress with confidence to the next stage of their lifelong learning. We do this by offering a broad and balanced curriculum that takes into consideration the needs of all pupils. Whilst our core skills remain consistent, our approaches adapt to meet the diverse needs of all pupils.

Our shared vision
At Eastward House School, we foster a supportive and inclusive community where every child is valued, nurtured, and encouraged to thrive. Recognising the diverse needs of our pupils, we offer an exciting and engaging curriculum that inspires curiosity and a love for learning.
Through strong relationships and a safe, understanding environment, we celebrate individuality and equip our pupils with the confidence and skills they need for school and later life.

“I would like Eastward House to celebrate and embrace how different all of the children are. It's ok to be different shapes, sizes, heights, and nationalities we all have to live together in the happiest positive way. I consider that Eastward House is a school where learners can experience belonging and achievement, whilst being accepted and celebrated as individuals. This school is like home from home, with the support and love of staff to help children feel safe and confident enough to learn at their own pace. Each child should have opportunities to thrive in what they are good at. Whilst still learning and being taught essential skills to live as independently as possible in the wider community.’
